From Zap2it!:

'Buffy' Musical Lives Again

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) "Once More, with Feeling," the musical
episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," is being brought back to life
once more. Ten more times, actually.

A San Francisco arts group called CounterPulse is mounting a live
stage production of the musical episode, which first aired on UPN in
November 2001, for a brief run from Oct. 20-23 and again on Halloween
Eve, Oct. 30. The group is playing two shows per night, and three of
the performances are already sold out.

The stage production will feature a live band performing with the
actors and dancers. CounterPulse says "costumes are encouraged";
ticket information is at CounterPulse.org.

That I'd pay to see!

"Serenity" knocks "Pride" off top of box office
Reuters Tuesday October 11, 01:41 PM

LONDON (Reuters) - Sci-fi action adventure "Serenity" has knocked "Pride
and Prejudice" from the top of the UK Box Office charts after three
weeks at number one, Screen International said on Tuesday.

The film, directed by Joss Whedon who created "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
and based on the TV series "Firefly", follows the motley crew of a
spaceship named Serenity living at the edge of the law in a Wild
West-style frontier of deep space.

And from http://www.thezreview.co.uk/files/boxofficereport.htm

Serenity UK opening weekend = £958,815

Honestly, I have no idea how that compares, but it looks good to me!

And from the US - comparing monday the 3rd to monday the 10th, serenity only experienced a 4.4% drop!

monday the 3rd: $732,980
monday the 10th: $700,480

Which ain't too damn bad!

The UK browncoats have been saying they were going to ride to the rescue of the BDM - nice to see they came through! Go the Pommies! It feels strangely wrong to be cheering for them, but I'll forgive them the ashes if they get this movie a sequel!

Sequel?

Stupid question, but if people are trying to get a sequel to the movie, does this mean that there will never be a season 2 of Firefly?

Far as I have heard, the cast is signed for 2 more movies, if they get the go ahead from the studio. It doesn't look like a new season is on the cards at the moment - fingers crossed, though. As much as I love the movie, a new season would be so much better!

Hey, UK pounds is big money!!

Observe: £958,815 = 2,239,221.46 AUD

How much did you say was the mark for agreeing on a sequel? Millions or tens of thousands?

Oh and for the record, I loved the "Pride and Prejudice" series (once I was old enough to stand their fluffy tirades); but Keira's going to destroy it!

She deserves to be shuffled from number one until she can act in more than one way.

$80 million, to be exact. But that includes things like DVD sales, so here's hoping! The worldwide tally at the moment is around 22-23 million. (All in US$, btw)

And Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books. The BBC miniseries was awesome. I don't expect the movie to come close, but I'll probably see it just to see what they've done with it. Depending on how broke I am, of course. As for Kiera, I've liked her alright in what I've seen her in, so the jury is out on her performance until I actually see it.

As long as they didn't make Elizabeth a blonde. In which case, let the flaming commence.
