2009

Hmm. It appears Doctor Who fandom has broken my friends page. Vocal lot.

Slightly belated Happy Holidays to you all, and I hope everyone had a great New Years! I bring evidence of our own celebrations - yes, we could have fought the crowds to the fireworks, but this was more fun.

QuickPost

Over the past few weeks I've read a great many books, watched a lot of TV shows (and is anyone else watching Leverage? If not, you should be), and above all, done far too much travelling. But it's back to the grindstone tomorrow, I guess. *sigh*

We are bad, bad fangirls :P But really, while it would have been cool if 11 had been a girl, or non-Caucasian, since I haven't got a clue who this guy is, how well he can act, or how they intend to write him, I think I'll wait a while before I break out the tar and feathers.

It is a bit disappointing that they didn't do something different. You wonder how much concern over whether doing something new would affect ratings might have ruled their decision, but perhaps that's just me being cynical. I find it kind of amusing that a few people are horrified that he's not pretty enough to be the Doctor, because I didn't think that past incarnations were famed for that, really. :p

In that case, I must be cynical too. And exactly! Apart from Ten, none of the others were really conventionally 'pretty' - certainly some of them were damn attractive, but not because of their adonis-like looks. (I go back and forth on Five as conventionally attractive - he's my favourite 'old' doctor, but I'm never sure if I think he's exactly *hot* or not.)

The comments I really liked were the ones complaining about lack of eyebrows. 'Cause if that's all you have to complain about, you ain't doing too badly, in my book!
