You know, it seems I'm the opposite of most lj people. I write a lot more during the week than on the weekend. Actually, mostly that was to do with the fact that this extended weekend has been . First my Grandmother and a few other relatives came to stay (not to bad, except for getting dragged round shops filled with so much kitsch it felt I was drowing in it), then I went go-carting with the gang (didn't drive, but had fun watching the people who did) and back to [profile] go_the_brumbies for dinner (and vodka), and yesterday was getting my bookshelf repaired (by a Star Wars geek - we had an interesting conversation while his mate was working, which makes up for the fact he didn't do that good a job) and then [profile] bobette came round.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the last few days have been filled with goodness, I've been feeling kinda.. I dunno, blah lately. Therefore the silence - to try and avoid infecting my livejournal with my blah-ness like I have my RL friends.

But enough boring stuff. I did indulge in a bit of retail therapy - now I have the first season of MacGyver:) RDA was definite one of those guys who got cuter as he got older, IMO. But anyway, the bad 80's acting (and hair) the stupid!science, the voiceovers and the HGtG - classic. But be warned - you will never get the theme music out of your head. I've been humming it for the last few days.

And I always love watching clip-style credits of the first season of TV shows. You know, when all you've watched so far is the pilot episode and the teaser of the next, and yet you've already seen half the clips in the credits? Yeah.

I'm gradually getting sucked into the supernatural fandom, and I was wondering if anyone has any good SPN gen links? From what I've seen, if I want to find fics in this fandom I'm going to have to get over my adversion to most pairing fics. Life's so tough when you are a gen fan - especially when you are a gen fan trying to avoid spoilers :) And what I'd love to see is an Angel or Buffy crossover - anyone?

A couple of days ago, I left a comment somewhere saying that, while I didn't support the war on Iraq, I do support our guys (and gals) over there, doing a crap job to the best of their ability. (This was in the context of ANZAC day, and whether or not our veterans from this conflict would get treated like the Vietnam vets on their return.) Anyway, someone else replied that this was a completely hypocritical position to take, that by being there our soldiers became mindless pawns of the (EVIIILL) politicians who sent them there, and therefore completely devoid of all basic rights. And they rounded of the comment with pictures of soldiers and blood-spattered children.

But yeah - does anyone else see this as hypocritical? When I say 'to the best of their ability', what I really mean 'do their damn job in such a way as to avoid unnecessary death, without getting killed themselves'. Let's face it - when a hell of a lot of the people over there joined up, there was no 9/11, or war on terror - you were signing up for a good paying job, with a degree paid for, and giving back a few years in uniform, searching for lost sailors and helping out in natural disasters. Not going to war, no matter what the small print says. And now they are there, and all they can do it stick it out and do their jobs, and hope the pollies get their heads out if their arses and sought things out sensibly - like, NOT with guns.

I dunno, it's odd - I consider myself VERY anti-war, but I work with current and ex-ADF members every day, and it disturbs me to see them vilified like this, especially on ANZAC day.

/end introspection

Ok, I think it's time to end this before it gets any more rambly. Definitely time for some food - I'm starting to get light-headed here. Hmmm... food...
