Five things

Five things I've learned in the last few days:

1. Wireless Broadband is goodness, but when the salespeople say the set-up assistant will work on a mac, they're probably lying.
2. Pluto is no longer a planet. Huh.
3. Canberra is too small to put anything you don't want RL people to see on the internet. Especially if it involves pictures.
4. Compared to some of my friends, I've had a very boring life.
5. The best lines to say after sucking helium out of balloons are 'Luke, I am your father', and 'There can only be One'. Although, V's introductory speech from V for Vendetta isn't bad either.

All in all, Life is good :)

I am the queen of the helium statements.

With prompting :)

'Luke, I am your father',

hehe That's usually the best line to say anytime, anywhere, under any circumstances. ;-)

It's such a good, multi-purpose line :) A few years ago, [profile] bob_ette and I used to annoy The Other SIster by following her around and intoning, 'Luke, I am your sloth' - which she found incredibly annoying, but which could reduce us to hysterics.

(Er - not quite as random as it sounds, I think it came about because of a discussion of the seven deadly sins, and we always forgot sloth. But why we then decided to slot it into that line I have no idea *g*)

Hey, it works. *g*

Luuuuuuke....

Also we need to name the other sister.

I'm voting Cockburger.

5. Get enough people together and sing "The Lumberjack Song"

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that would have been good! We did do 'Always look on the bright side of life', although the whistling caused some problems :)

[identity profile] seldear.livejournal.com 2006-08-27 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
And your throat is all sore after inhaling too much of it. You ever notice that?

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't, but then I only use helium in moderation :)

[identity profile] seldear.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
LOL.

Well, I don't use it that often...but when I do, I go hard. ;)

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ahah. Binge!Helium-sucking. *shakes head sorrowfully*

[identity profile] seldear.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Better than some binges I could go on.

Besides, there's a serious shortage of helium balloons in the IT industry. So it's not like I'm going to be an addict or anything!

*decides not to insert joke about getting high on helium balloons*

there's a serious shortage of helium balloons in the IT industry

Perhaps you should do something about that. Start a grassroots movement to try and get IT professionals to bring in helium balloons to liven up the office. I'm sure it would do wonders for productivity :) And then you could all suck helium and sing the lumberjack song

[identity profile] dandysora.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, my throat was pretty sore after that. I don't think you should laugh so hard with helium in your lungs.

I'm glad we all managed to drag ourselves over after open day, considering how horrible everyone was feeling, aggravating wireless set up included.

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I was surprised we got so many people round, considering the general tiredness and extreme late notice. It just goes to show we should do it more often - no more excuses about being tired! :)
