Catch 'em young...

Since we are all a bunch of copyright respecting people over here, I thought this might interest some of you: Fun and Games with Copyright

By means of a curriculum devised by the movie industry, the Scouts will be instructed in basic copyright law and learn to identify five types of copyrighted works and three ways that copyrighted materials may be stolen.

Interesting (and somewhat sneaky move by the MPAA). Bet there's no mention of Fair Use there. But does anyone think that teaching a lot of teenage boys (and girls, for that matter) how copyrighted material can be stolen could backfire?

Also, WTF is up with our weather? IT SNOWED. IT'S SUMMER. (OK, technically it's spring, but November only gets pushed into spring because they're only allowed to have three months in summer, not by virtue of its temperature.)

Monday was really odd here in Sydney... it was about 27 degrees at 6:50am, then a thunderstorm for 40 minutes at midday, freezing cold, then high 20s again for the rest of the day... very weird

And we have bushfires again. Snow and fires in the same day!

I blame Johnny Howard.

... So it's not just us with insane weather at the moment. o_O

Nope, looks like it's at least state (and territory) wide. What's it like where you are?

Very cold. And the weird thing is, it came over so suddenly!

That is kind of gross. Guides get media literacy classes, why not the scouts? Though the scouts pretty much lost my attention when they started banning gays and atheists.

There is lots of snow on the ground here, but I am kind of far up in the northern hemisphere.

They do that? I don't think our scouts do that - well, not explicitly, I'm not sure how open-minded they would be if you 'came out' as either.

The thing is, even in winter it doesn't tend to snow here. I've been here for 6 years, and this is only the second time it's snowed during that time, and then it was more sort of slushy rain that disappeared as soon as it hit the ground. It was extremely odd.

The weather has been so weird - we had a lightening storm on Saturday and it's been freezing ever since. Not that i'm complaining - better than a stinking hot spring!

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. I'd take cold over hot any day - I'd just like to know what to expect, so I can dress appropriately.

I like the fact that they are sending these guys to p2p websites, thats gold. In fact they should also be told how to install azureus and emule, and how to access usenet. Its great!

Perhaps we should tutor that course? *evil grin*

Yes now that you have azureus i can say you have graduated, and are ready to teach. However the true test is, have you found everything youve ever looked for? I havent, maybe you know much i can learn, see i have such great respect for the subject. Anyway you didnt leave a brown coat without a button last sunday did you?

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would be mine. I'll grab it next time I'm round, as long as you don't mind holding on to it :)
