Well, the housemate left today. Basically, this means 1) no more yummy food :( and 2) more Internet time for me :) It's weird - I've probably had about a week total alone in this place. Still, I'm being invaded by the raving hordes on thursday, so I won't have much time to get used to it.

As far as real life goes, despite the fact that it is showing an amazing ability to limit my online activities, nothing much is happening. Well, my friends seem to be having a pretty eventful time, but me? Not so much. This is probably a good thing, when I think about it.

Thoughts on First of all, let me say I liked this movie. In fact, I've seen it twice, and considering my extreme state of brokeness at the moment, this means something. And I haven't read the GN, mostly because you can count the number of GN's I've read in my entire life on the fingers of one hand. Portman was quite good, but Weaving was amazing. As was the detective (mind blank, can't remember the name) - I hear the character is not as sympathetic in the GN, but I liked the fact that not all the Government enforcer types were stereotypically evil.

All that said, I think they did get a bit heavy handed with the Nazi/Hitler/Big Brother symbolism. I mean, when the fact that the government is evil and corrupt and all is the point of the story, you don't really need to bend over backwards to cram in every visual and symbolic allusion you can think of.

On another note, I find the whole V is/isn't a terrorist thing amusing and kinda irritating at the same time. This is mostly because everyone on the terrorist side seems to be saying "OMG he blew up a building, he is a terrorist", and the non-terrorists "But only after giving a year of warning, and besides, only the evil people would be there anyway, and besides, he's so cool!", which to me rather misses the point. The goal of a terrorist is, by definition (or by my definition, anyway :P) is someone who is trying to create and instill terror, in both the general population and the government. While V would certainly be happy to discover that the government is having nightmare about him, his primary purpose seems to be to inspire the population, not terrorise them. Anyway, food for thought.

Double episode of Supernatural tonight. Or not, since the second one was a repeat. Stupid channel ten. Still, they are partially forgiven, because the new episode had Darla in it. In an ironically similar situation to one she ended up in on Angel, so I spent the episode going "No, don't worry, she can just go to LA and hook up with Angel/Lindsay, and it'll be all good." Guess I kind of missed the poignancy there :)

Random Observation of the Day - You just can't see the Operative the same way when you've heard him singing "I want to be Evil"
