So many DVDs, so little time...
Ok, so I'm back online. There are many reasons for my absence from the livejournal world, but they mostly involved too many books and DVDs, and the fact that
bob_ette has staged an armed takeover of my internet connection. But she's out at the moment, so I have sole posession - at least until she gets back. This means I've been out of touch with the internet world in general - anything I need to know about?
Anyway, during my little break I have managed to read 10 books (Honor Harrington books by David Weber) and get through all of my new HH dvds, watch the rest of supernatural, and up to episode 4 of Dr Who, so I haven't been completely unproductive :)
OMG! The impala! If it gets replaced by their father's truck next season, I shall be one unhappy camper. On that note, I'm still looking for a decent pic of the car - anyone? On a slightly more serious note, I was slightly ... disappointed? in the the finale. I mean, I liked everything they did, I think I just expected something more for the finale. And I DID NOT like the music credits thing either. I liked the song, I just didn't think it fit the mood they were trying to evoke.
This has been an expensive weekend so far, and it is only half-way done. I bought 2 pairs of gloves, and this stole-y type thing. And season one of Dr Who, so all those who were interested in seeing the Captain Jack goodness, I can now oblige. This is (yet another) down side of hating my work - I comfort shop. Oh well, at least it was stuff I needed. And yes, Dr Who does count amoung life's necessities.
Yes, work is shite, for very many reasons. I've been reminded why I hate lawyers - seriously, they definitely have the highest proportion of backstabbing shits of any occupation. That said, there are quite a few I like as people, (and even some I like as lawyers) but I think the next job I look for will be the one with the lowest proportion of lawyers and or HR people to the rest of the company. Arrgghh. Think I may have to start looking through the classifieds, although I am still hoping things will get better. Actually, things should get better when certain grads move to the other side of the country, which can't happen soon enough. And then maybe there will be a freak earthquake, and Perth will fall into the sea. OK, I know, I'm being petty and stupid, but there's a certain person who is basically behaving like we are all back in high school - petty power games, intentionally dropping people off email lists, major arse-kissing with the grad team - and it is driving me insane. When you combine that with a grad team which seems incapable of acting professionally, and day-to-day work which may be challenging if you have an IQ of thirty, you get a very unhappy me. Oh well, hopefully things will get better.
I have a few other odds and sods I want to share with people, (including the crazyest patent application I have ever seen, featuring special guest appearances by the Androids of the Grey Aliens) but that may have to wait until I remember to forward myself the emails.
Also, I love Bayside. My new fave band (for the next week or so, anyway).

You never know what can happen down under, if we can have wonky holes we can have freak earthquakes. I'm happy we're where we are, at least we'll never flood.
I don't think the Impala's coming back from that impact. John's truck is pretty cool for an SUV, it has the hidden auto-slide out compartment in the back, good height on the road, and let's not forget it's black (it will go faster when the boys make a quick exit from the scene). And unlike the Impala, it doesn't sound like it's about to die like when you put the key in the ignition. The Impala is dead; long live the Impala!

The Impala can be fixed! The Impala shall rise again!
(Part of my annoyance with the thought of John's truck is that people will keep calling it a truck, and I'll keep thinking 'It's not a truck, it's a ute'. Although I guess I can't blame people for using Americanisms in an american show...)

But at least it will run on the road. Better to have a ute-truck than no transportation! I bet next season they'll all be out of the hospital in the first five minutes, but the poor, wrangled Impala will have to rust by the wayside. They could always steal someone else's.

I liked the music over the credits, but you knew that already lyore, we argued over it at the time. I just think you have no taste.
What do you think happened to john?

I think they all got banged up pretty badly, but I highly doubt anyone will die. Maybe John will be stuck comatose in a hospital, but halfway through next season he'll wake up and do the fatherly thing, by riding in on a stolen Impala and saving his sons from the bright-eyed demon. As all good fathers do.
