This is a drive-by update to say I won't be around for the next few days, since I get to go on a business trip to Queensland. Yay for the job - I had to buy a suitcase and everything, that should tell you how often I get to travel. I'm a bit nervous about the flights - not because I have any particular fear of flying, just because I get uncomfortable doing things I don't do often. And I still have to pack :(

Anyway, I shall be away from the internet AND the computer for a few days, but this could be a good thing. I intend to use the free time (if I have any) to edit that SG-1 fic I mentioned, and possibly even get started on the fic-a-thon entry I'm supposed to be writing. We'll see how it goes.

ETA: You know what the world really needs? More specifically, you know what I really need? A cordless iron. I hate ironing at the best of times, and I hate it even more when I managed to keep wrapping the sleeves of my shirts around the cord. Argh.

Improbable, I'm afraid. Storing enough electricity to heat an iron would be hard to do with standard batteries. It might have to be gasoline powered or something. But then they wouldn't let you take it on the plane.. (joking, I'm joking!)

Now I've got an image of an oversized iron with a massive gas-tank strapped to the back. May make a bit difficult to use, I suppose. Not to mention the looks when you took it down to the gas station to fill it up!

Perhaps I shall just have to wait until I can get a nuclear-power iron. Perhaps one like the Car in Back To the Future (2?), where it's powered on rubbish. Rubbish I have :)

I hate ironing for that reason, too. I actually don't, though. Rarely. I just don't buy any clothes that need ironing. And I don't iron anyone else's either. hehe

Have a good trip. :-)

Ha! I'd like to see that.

You'd need to be on the 100X-mega-upgraded version of Speed to actually use the bloody thing. Otherwise you'd never actually iron anything ;D

That's ok, Ironing's over-rated when you're travelling that fast... all the wrinkles get blow-dried out =)

Although 100X-mega-upgraded version of speed does sound moderately appealing, then I might actually be able to play XGRA properly :p

I have only about 2 shirts that need ironing, so I can generally avoid it. But unfortunately, on of them is the shirt that goes with the suit I needed to wear, so this time I had no choice :(

I don't iron for anyone else either - of course, no one would be stupid enough to ask me to. My ironing doesn't really decrease the amount to wrinkles in the clothes, it just kind of herds them all together and makes them more defined :)

hehe My husband's in the military, so he has lots of ironing to do. *g* He's also not stupid enough to ask me to do it. :-)

I work with military guys, and what always gets me is not the neatly ironed uniforms (which I could never manage) but the incredibly shiny shoes. I am in awe of their shoe-shining skills.

hehe When we were first married, I caught my husband shining his shoes on our new bedspread. *g* I don't think he does that any more, though. ;-)
