Oh, I *so* understand your issues with comics. I can't split my attention effectively between the pictures and text either. Probably because I didn't see comics at all as a kid. And I'm a fast reader too.
I enjoyed Sandman well enough, and read one of the Gaiman collections at the urging of friends, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to get a fraction of the enjoyment out of comics that my comic-addicted friends do. (And certainly not enough to go out and buy the things!)
