OK. Um, what to say?

Firstly: Martha = awesome

I loved Martha SO MUCH in that last scene. I really hope she's back in season 4, at least a for a few episodes. Failing that, she should so join Torchwood. And definitely call Tom back :)

Anyway, this scene just epitomises what I love about Martha - she's adult, she's willing to make the tough decisions, and she's capable of seeing beyond her crush/love to the realism of the Doctor/companion situation. (I loved Rose, but even after 'School Reunion' her blind belief that she and the Doctor would be together forever really started to bug me, even when I allowed for the obvious beat-you-over-the-head attempt at foreshadowing.) Not to mention legenday!Martha kicked arse throughout the episode, so that's good.

Secondly: Jack = Face of Boe

Just... WTF? Apart from the logistics of the situation (like, exactly how do you age into a GIANT HEAD?!), I really don't think I like this. Part of this comes back to my possibly childish hatred of knowing when any of the characters are going to die (before it actually occurs, I mean - does that make sense?). Plus, I have a hard time thinking of *Jack*, of all people, stuck as a head in a jar. I mean... this is *Jack*. Still, the Face of Boe was cool, but... dunno. Need some more time to think about this one, it may grow on me, but I doubt it.

Overall, this episode needed more Jack - he had what, 5 lines? Then again, given what he *did* say, perhaps its for the best.

ETA: You know what? Still don't like it, and it's getting worse the more I think about it. Now I'm at the Sick-to-my-stomach don't like it stage. Can anyone come up with something to make me feel better about this?

Thirdly: The Doctor = Tinkerbell

Oddly enough, I didn't mind this, although the glowing-and-floating was a bit laughable. I liked that it gave the humans a chance to participate in their own salvation, I just think it could have been handled with more subtlety.

Fourthly: Deathscene = *Love*

I really, really, really loved this scene. The Doctor absolutely broken over the death of his enemy, 'cause he's the only Time Lord left again. *sigh*

Fifthly: The Plot

What plot? (And I do have to mention that one does wonder why touching the wrong wire in the TARDIS would have been disastrous last episode, but spraying it with bullets works this week?)

Yeah. So. While overall I liked the episode, writing that up make me realise how much I dislike THAT bit in particular. Ah well.
