In other news, I have changed the layout of this Lj. Definitely like it better this way.

I've also been rewatching my Dark Angel DVDs. Can't decide if Jessica Alba is a good actress or not. Well, I guess she suits the part, which is the main thing. And besides, who pays any attention to her when Logan is around? *drools on keyboard*

Shallowness aside, I really do like the balance they have in the first season between his story and hers. Pity that they ruined the whole thing with the second season. Is it wrong to feel midly relieved that they cancelled the show before they could do more damage?


Useless Trivia of the Day - The wonderful piece of punctuation ‽ (otherwise written as ?!) is called an Interrobang. It was introduced in 1962, by Mr Speckter (some big-wig in advertising company, which explains a lot - 'cause there just aren't enough normal pieces of punctuation for them to abuse). The Interrobang can convey in print an attitude, curiosity, and wonder. Or, used incorrectly (generally by advertising types or fanbrats), induce an attitude of fear, loathing and blind rage.

Oh, and in the 'Barry Trotter' parodies, Barry's mark is in the shape of - you guessed it - an interrobang.

Nice colours, this template's pretty good, isn't it?

Dark Angel had an interesting premise, but it just couldn't snag me. If I want to watch bad science with substance I'll watch more Pretender. Pretender had so much more subtlety and actual intrigue, every character was completely distinct. In DA most people were there for background noise, at least that's how it felt to me -- the writers tried to give everyone purpose and a mission, but it came in too late.

The only characters I find annoying/extraneous are some of the Jam pony crowd (Sketchy comes to mind). But generally, I like most of the regulars, even when I can't understand a word they are saying. Especially the ones on the Eyes Only side of the story - Matt the cop is one of my al time favourite minor characters, I have no idea why.

Of course, when you get to season 2, all bets are off. Yuck.

I agree the Pretender was better, but when you consider how much longer they had to develop the characters, that's not suprising. It really didn't hit its stride until season 2, for me.

But - bad science? You mean, there really aren't Pretenders and genetically modified killing machines running around? The world suddenly got a lot more boring :-)

He's been doing one all year. This is what you get for not going to the right uni - it's so much easier to keep things straight when you are in the same state :-)

And I will reveal even more of my geekiness by saying it was actually kinda interesting - chapter 5 killed me, but the rest was OK
