And the procrastination continues. I bring you - Cloud: The Icon. Which is kinda like Cloud: The Musical, only much quieter. And also a lot shorter. And non-moving. So not really like it at all, except that Cloud is in both. Well, he would be, if Cloud: The Musical actually existed.

It's bright. I like bright. Kinda back-lit, or something. Hey, I'm an engineer, not an artist, OK?

You know, I liked Advent Children, especially the fancy animation, but every time I watch it I have this powerful urge to go give all the male characters haircuts. Seriously, the only reason that Sephiroth bloke is/was in such a bad mood was because the hair in his face was driving him mad. Well, that and his enemies bounce around ignoring the laws of physics (Newton? Newton who?), which would also make me damn cranky.

Ughh. It's 2:30 in the morning, and I have sooo much work to do for this exam. On the other hand, I was (moderately) successful in completing the practice questions on oxides. As long as they don't ask a question about oxide growth rates on other oxides, should be OK. For that tiny, insignificant section *sigh*. I have also concluded that I suck at reading log/log graphs.

Only 190 questions to go...

Random Observation of the Day - I really suck at studying. It's absolutely amazing I've made it this far through my degree. Just have to hope the luck holds for a little while longer...

You should feel validated indeed! She seems like shes pretty hot, its a bit hard to tell though since half her face is covered be her glove. Its unfortunate they only allow such small pictures, we need more detail!

Well, *she* is a he, for one thing. ;-D. Ahh, the joys of androgynous Japanese animation (or computer generated animation, anyway).

Actually, one of the reasons I decided to make the icon from this particular screen-cap was because his face was obscured - frankly, most of the time in the movie, Cloud's face looks 12-15. I spent the time going through the screencaps going 'nope, Sephiroth/Cloud looks like a girl here... and here'. Well, not like a girl, but feminine, anyway. And young.

I have the original, un-maniped screencap on my comp, if you still want.

Well we can ignore that! And not tell the mates of mine that constantly criticise my taste. Computer generated, man im becoming a bot. I need the guys to return quickly now so im distracted from work.

I won't tell if you don't :P

I messed around with it so it looks less computer generated than the original, if that makes you feel better.

I'm always distracted from work. Self-distracting, is what I am.

I keep making this mistake, who is he!? Aside from being a cloud like person

HE is called Cloud (yes, he also has a girly name). Plus a bloody big sword. He's the main character of FFVII - you know, the game?. And also the main character of the movie Advent Children. If you tell [personal profile] necromage or [profile] psuedoskribe you haven't seen it, they'll MAKE you watch it.

I liked it a lot more the second time around, apart from sniggering at some of the dodgily translated subtitles.

I believe that [profile] psuedoskribe's icon is from Advent Children too. Depends what she is using at the moment.

Well, theyd have to organise the watching of it, which is a good thing. Ive heard of final fantasy but have never encountered any of it. Actually im glad i could figure out what youre talking about.

say, cloud is pretty hot, eh? ;]

[lol] you guys made my day -- say, is my icon a girl or boy? (no, you cannot look at the birth certificate).

i'd like to see advent on the big screen (ie. the maths building), do they close it down and restrict hire of the theatre when the official semester ends?

like [livejournal.com profile] lyore says, there's this trend in japanese pop-culture for men to be handsome almost to the point of pretty; hence, androgynous. square enix is at the head of 3D animation in its industry (VG) and i'm so happy because i've used some of the programs they use! obviously there's a gaping divide between our skill level, but it's still cool (spin, my little pyramids, spin!)

[livejournal.com profile] lyore, think of the physics-less this way: they're not on Earth. Unfortunately there never was and never will be any Newton, Einstein or physics-me-Bob. In lieu of this, they have a sentient planet whose blood, when crystalised gives you counter-physics powah x4, and men engineered specifically to defy science and incite gender confusion.

Vive la revolution. =p

But, see, I don't care that they are not on earth. They have mass, they fall *down*, therefore there *is* gravity.

Now, you could totally sell me on the idea of sentient-planet-blood-magical-power-creating, amazingly springy genetically engineered people who not only are damn bouncy but have special sticky shoes so they can stand on the sides of walls, and magic floaty powers so that people don't go *splat* when they fall/jump off insanely high buildings.

The unfortunate thing is - I justify all these magical effects to myself by postulating new sub-atomic particles and trying to integrate quantum mechanical and relativistic effects. Which never ends well.

You know, I used to be a far less geeky person, before I studied physics. Hard to believe, isn't it?

And I don't mind the pretty guys, either (though they do sometimes go too far - I like my guys to look like guys, thanks) :-)

That made no sense.

Ideally, I like the idea of magical powers which interact and distort the laws of physics, not things were they are randomly ignored. But then, I also don't like stories/movies who's sole purpose is to explain their new amazing physics, either. Hard Sci-fi is not really my thing. I'm just so hard to satisfy :)

Mostly, I want consistency, dammit!

But hey, I'll forgive a lot (pretty much everything) for good characters and plots, so it's all good.

Hope all went well with the exam today, and look, this new so called "androgynous" art is evil.

Hi!
I wandered in from the DVD-burning thread and saw FFVII mentioned. *waves banner* Loved the movie, but probably could have done without some of the bigger physics-stomping fight scenes.

Nice icon, btw, but I still really like your MnM one. :)

Hi! *waves*

Yes, as you can see from above, the physics-abuse is one of my pet peeves, in any movie. It's more of an eye-roll thing really, rather than a can't-stand-it-anymore insane reaction, but I would still prefer it if they got it right. :)

FFVII - Really loved Advent Children, but have to admit to not playing the game. [personal profile] necromage, among others, has explained the basic premise of the game to me, so I have a fair idea of the backstory. But even before Advent Children, I knew who Cloud was. Not sure why - I guess he's just fairly recognisable.

And the MnM icon is here to stay - he's still my default (and back on this comment just for you).
