Have to go to work tomorrow. Ughh. At least it'll be cool, I guess.

Been watching the Hornblower DVD's I bought my Dad for Christmas. Been I long time since I thought about that series - really liking it. It joins Lord of the Rings as one of the few movies/series I prefer to the original books. Unlike my less-than-love for the LotR books (which has everything to do with writing style), I think that the movies made the character of Hornblower a lot more accessible to the audience (plus, you know, more Archie, which is always good). I find Hornblower an interesting character in general - the contrast between his personal sense of honour and the more underhanded tactics he is willing take in warfare, such as sailing under false colours. Add in a superb cast, and I'm sold.

Must get around to getting my own copy, eventually. Oh, the brokeness of my life, which unfortunately does not look to improve with the new job, thanks to the rent. Ah well, such is life.

Oh, and our town had riots this weekend. Even made the national news. We're famous - go my town! (Hey [personal profile] wolfwarrior, still coming to visit?) The way the cops had their own little setup - all chairs set out under a tent, complete with a stand for refreshments, made it look rather like a party. Which reminds me that I still haven't posted the picture of the town christmas tree, but that will have to wait until I get it off my father's computer.

Random Observation of the Day - Why can I sleep all day, but never at night? Employment really needs a 'nocturnal ' option.

:eek, glad you didn't get caught up in the riots. You can work nightshifts if you want!

As long as you avoid that part of town, you're normally OK, though I do need to drive through there to get to work. At the moment I do work night shifts - I'm just panicking about the thought of having to work days for the new job. Given a choice, I don't do mornings :)

Come be a nurse, with me and the other sister, then you can do all the night duty you want!

Let me think about it... um, no. Not even for the night shift :)

Starting our own riot

Yeah I heard about the riots and decided that I just couldn't stay away. Bringing my pool cue so that I can get in with the rioting (bikey gear, pool cue... perhaps I should upgrade to a baseball bat?) :p

Current plan is that we will be up your way this weekend, tried to call last night to confirm with you what the plans are but you was at work :s

Sorry about the late notice... had to bring the plans forward due to work restrictions. Hope that it will be ok... looking forward to catching up. Will try and call you this afternoon =)

A 69 year old got arrested? For what? Beating other people too slowly? Or would that be the other way round? Old people can get quite violent.

Obviously, after we bust her out of jail - don't forget your balaclava, wolfy! (See - everyone should come and visit me, we have excellent entertainment around here).

Would have loved to come and see you in Dubbo but alas I am in a country where there is a jail term and I think a public caning for busting people out of jail. That's if you can get over the 20ft electrified wall, barbed wire and 10 checkpoints all with policemen carrying semi-autos.

Anyway, hope you guys have a great time! Miss you guys! The shell I am currently stuck under seems to only have a 20% of actually moving anywhere in the nest 2 weeks. Only 7 weeks left!!

Which is why you come back to Oz to bust people out of jail - we are far more slack :) Hey, at least it would be more fun than the thesis... Although, come to think of it, the jail term and public canning may also be more fun than working on your thesis :)

That is because I am a horrible slack person. I'l go do it now, I promise. And please try and stay away from the bombs - being blown up at the START of the holiday would really suck.

Hurrah: Hornblower. I don't know if I saw that series through to the end, but oh, so much love. So less love for Archie death, I want to rewatch that.

What were the riots about?

Hornblower - I'm not sure if I've seen it all or not either - so far, I'd seen the first three DVDs, but I don't recognise the titles for a couple of the later ones.

The riots - cops arrested a 16 yr old for joyriding in a stolen car, and apparently the locals got restless. *Shrug* These things happen on a semi-regular basis over here.
