I was a bad person today. It's just such good, mindless TV, you know. Although, watching the first ep today - some of the special effects are pretty dodgy. For that matter, some of the story lines are even dodgier. The real reason I bought it, of course, was that I love Lex. Seriously. He's just so... cool. Amoral, but devoted to Clark, and willing to do anything to protect him. OK, I'll admit it. It's one of the few shows where the slashy potential just leaped out at me He's also very necessary, with the way they have developed the other characters - with no one else (Clark, his parents, the scooby gang) willing to break the rules or do anything remotely bad to protect Clark's secret OR to defeat the bad guys, they'd be screwed without him. Yep - definitely the reason I keep buying this show - even if I do wait until it's been reduced to $30 :)

Anyway, when you combine that with the fact I needed to buy new headphones (the old ones died at the beginning of the week) it's time for some budgeting willpower. We'll see how well that works out...

But now, I have some linky goodness for you all:

Spoiler's for Dr Who: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2006/06_june/15/who.shtml

and here http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5082668.stm

So, looks like Rose is leaving the show at the end of the season. I'm not that surprised, really. And honestly? Not extremely depressed, either. I mean, I LOVED the relationship (no, not that way) between her and Nine, but so far she and Ten haven't really gelled for me. I watch it, and like them together, but when I go back and re-watch the first season, then I see the difference. Of course, I think at this stage I am about three episodes behind (hint, hint guys), so I reserve the right to change my opinion on this anytime, especially since I think a large part of this may have been the inclusion of Micky (which, apart from that, I liked). Besides, maybe she'll jump ship and go to Torchwood :)

For Mage - Star Wars Stuff: Here's the link to the SW.com preview of Zahn's next book. Yay for the OT setting - bit dubious about the inclusion of Mara, though... I like her alright, but I'm just not sure how he will fit her in without disrupting continuity. It also brings to mind all those old SW fics, where Luke and Mara met and had a torrid affair back on Tatoinne. Still, it's Zahn, so I have (some) faith.

Paramount Pictures and Steven Spielberg will develop an as-yet-untitled space-travel movie about a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole and into another dimension, Variety reported. Spielberg hopes to direct the film.

I don't know, I'm not impressed - this sort of thing has been done so often in TV shows, I'm not sure a movie would add much to it. Still it could be good, I guess. Don't know whether to be excited or depressed about SS directing.

One final note, for those in Canberra - Krispy Kreme is opening on 6th July. Not long to go now...

I really don't get the obsession some people have with these doughnuts. I admit that I haven't tried any, but then, the idea of doughnuts covered with that much sugar doesn't really appeal all that much to me. Bring on a cinnamon doughnut any day!

You are all heretics who shall be banned from my journal!

Nah, honestly, = I think most of the appeal comes from the fact that there just aren't any shops (well, there wasn't, anyway) around here that sells them. So people would go to Sydney, and bring back boxes of these ultra-sugary things, but you'd never get to eat as many as you wanted, since they always had to be shared among 50 people, or something. So i guess most of the popularility of them round here is due to rarity, more than anything else.

Gah. my finger's are frozen and I can't type properly. Stupid winter.
