Well, well, well. Whedon and Dushku back together again.

The description sounds... interesting.

" "Dollhouse is a suspense drama about a girl who can have any personality except her own."

Or, from eonline

Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.

Hmm. From anyone else, I'd be pretty dubious about the chances of pulling this off without being... icky, but I'm willing to give Whedon the benefit of the doubt. And if done well, it could be awesome.

I think it sounds kinda cool actually. Maybe I'm just biased cos I'm a fan of Joss and a huge fan of Eliza. I wish they would just bring back Tru Calling though, that was awesome.

I think if done well it could be very cool, and since it's Joss Whedon, I'm very hopeful it *will* be done well. (Not to belittle Eliza here, but if the show writers and creators aren't up to scratch, not even the best actress will save it)

Tru Calling - I thought it was not bad, but I've only seen the first season, and generally it takes me until the second or even third season of a show for it to really 'click' for me. One of these days I will get round to watching the second season, when I can afford it. (I *loved* Dushku as Faith though)

I'm interested, if they have all the right people and the support in place, I'm ready for something a little different. The concept itself isn't so different from sci-fi ideas we've seen before, but the key to success is the execution! Could be good.

At least they didn't call Dushku's character 'Oenone'.

The concept reminds me a bit of Pretender - the whole 'can be anything or anyone' aspect.
