Better late

OK, so remember how a couple of weeks ago, there was that drabble meme? And how I wrote most of them on the weekend I did it, but lack of Quality LJ time prevented me from posting? Well, here's the first lot. Better late than never, I suppose. (In my defence, life has been hectic, yadda yadda yadda... never changes. *sigh*)

seldear, who wanted "Sam and Daniel being geeky". It turned out more angsty than geeky, sorry. Consider this post-'Threads', if you will.
"The maximum height of a tower is proportional to the width of the base."
Sam's jello tower wobbled. "Daniel?"
"I translated Babylonian architectural treatises in school." Daniel slide in beside her, rested his books on the table. Sam damped the vibrations with her spoon.
"They also thought if you built a tall enough tower you could talk to the gods."
Sam choked back her laugh before it became a sob. "Do you think there are any gods worth the effort?"
A pause. Daniel lifted her jello tower onto the top of his stack of books.
"We haven't met them all."

Notes: For
_bluebells, who wanted "Han attempting to communicate with R2 without C3-P0 there to translate."
The droid chirped cheerfully. Han resisted the urge to blast it into scrap; Luke would be annoyed.
Han gritted his teeth. "I. Don't. Speak. Astromech! At least point in the general direction."
The droid paused, then spun madly on its axis. The warbling became more frantic.
OK – apparently pointing was out. Which left plan B.
"You know where she is? Beep once for yes."
Beep.
Han sighed. If anyone had ever told him he would be reduced to playing charades with an astromech to find his wife….
"How many words?"
That romantic dinner was looking less likely by the second.

deirdre_c, who wanted "Dean geeking out about Star Wars and Sam mocking him". This is sort of two mini-mini fics in one... hope you don't mind.
Once, long ago, Dean convinced Sam the Star Wars cards from the cereal were part of a summoning ritual for aliens; unless Sam gave them to Dean for exorcism he would be eaten by the Sarlacc. Their father was furious.
"Tickets to what?"
"The premiere of Revenge of the Sith."
"Are you out of your mind?!"
"Think, Sammy! Geeks, freaks and weirdos lining up in the dark, blood stinking with caffeine and salt and all that other shit. It's an all-you-can-eat Srgathyak bar!"
"We can stake out the line without watching the movie."
"Gotta do the job right, Sammy."

More coming soon...

Date: 2008-07-01 08:50 am (UTC)I love SPN (most of the time), but it would be a whole lot better if they left out the scary bits - at least anything with ghosts! And there is some pretty awesome fic for the show out there.
