Nov. 7th, 2005 10:59 pmMy attempts to procrastinate have reached new heights. Today, I made my First Offical Icon. *points to icon* And when you realise that my image editing software currently consists of Microsoft Word, you can understand that I am currently feeling very accomplished. Oh, and I also have iPhoto. *thinks covetous thoughts about Photoshop*
OK, so it's cute and pointless, sue me. (Occasionally, even I like cute. In very, very small doses. Don't look at me like that.) If it makes you feel better, imagine that it is a small, cute, fluffy stalker thingy, hiding its knife/gun/lightsabre behind the bushes. And the text is too small, but apparently that is a time honoured tradition in icon making, so there :-)
But on to more in-character news from me.
US today has released the top 5 Star Wars moments, as described by the fans. Check it out here
But, if you are too lazy to click ('cause I always am), here they are
1. Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker, 'No, I am your father!'
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Chapter 46; 1 hour, 51 minutes
"Nobody saw that coming," says Philip Wise, 28, of Southlake, Texas, who operates the Rebel Scum Web site
2. Obi-Wan and Anakin cross lightsabers
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Chapter 38; 1 hour, 47 minutes, 30 seconds
This clash between master and pupil on the volcanic planet of Mustafar "is edge-of-your-seat saber choreography at its best," says Anne Neumann, 30, of Austin.
3. Han Solo is frozen in carbonite
The Empire Strikes Back, Chapter 40; 1 hour, 35 minutes
" With the dad revelation, this sets up the first feature-length cliffhanger in movie history," says Scott Chitwood, 32, of Houston, a founder of TheForce.net, a Star Wars news Web site.
4. The Imperial Star Destroyer flies over
Episode IV: A New Hope, Chapter 3; 2 minutes, 11 seconds
"The beginning of a lifelong obsession started here," Wise says
5. Saving Luke's life, Vader is redeemed
Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi Chapter 43; 1 hour, 55 minutes
"It is the reason we sit through 12 hours of Star Wars," says Dave Myatt, 32, of Vancouver, B.C.

I approve of that list (I'm sure they care:)), although personally, I would put Vader's redemption at number 3. But then, I've always been a Luke and Vader fangirl, so that's not really a surprise. I like the way they give the chapter and time reference, too.
I am also glad to see that four of the five came from the OT - I like the prequels, I really liked ROTS, but the OT, flaws and all, are a league of their own. Revenge of the Sith would probably join them, apart from the shameless massacring of Padme's character. I was never a huge fan of hers, but really - all she did in that movie was get pregnant and die. Of a broken heart. Please. Bob/ette the nurse came up with half a dozen realistic ways she could have died in childbirth in 5 minutes, if that was what GL had his heart set on - ignoring the fact that that contradicts OT cannon, but hey, we can be a little flexible.
hmm, rant over.
And now I really, REALLY want to buy the DVD, but I'm being good. Also currently being broke - I have a grand total of $52 in the bank, which CANNOT be spent on any more Star Wars stuff. *sigh*
So, cheer me up, admire my icon.
Random Observation of the Day - I have spent far too much time lately on the Internet, and far too little (read: none) studying for my exam on friday. Oh, this is not going to be fun...

Date: 2005-11-08 06:55 am (UTC)Umm - gone hunting - looks like, while there may be plans to rerelease the OT boxset with other/more extras, we won't get a Prequel boxset before this christmas. Damn. Looks like I may have to buy it anyway, but it still won't be until I go home and get paid.
The only reason I really care is that I only have episodes 1 and 2 on VHS, so getting them all together made sense. Oh well. It's not like George Lucas doesn't have enough of my money.
So, in conclusion - I am pretty damn positive a Prequel box set will be coming out, and moderately positive GL will do a entire saga, just to wring more money out of us. But who knows when?
