Watching 20/20 Cricket on the TV (Australia vs England - so far, we're kicking arse. Go Us). Umpire's name?

Peter Parker.

It's the Geeky Things in life that are often the Best.

Watching of Torchwood has been temporarily postponed, pending the end of the match. People are supposed to be visiting tonight, but it doesn't look like they are going to show, so I should get a couple of episodes in before I need to hit the sack.

For some reason, the breeze blowing into my room smells like the sea. This would make more sense if we weren't 100's of kms from the coast.

*cough* Boy am I glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.

I believe the commentators where having some fun with it earlier in the match, but I only tuned in for the second innings.

And wow, that turned into a bit of a debacle. I'm actually starting to feeling sorry for the Poms (and Flintoff just needs a hug). Considering I'm off the Kill-Crush-Destroy school of thought when it comes to sport (no, I do not want a "good match" or "a bit of a contest", I want my team to win), that's saying something.

I've been feeling like that for a month. I'm of the 'bit of a contest' school. ;-)

And yes, Flintoff needs hugs. That poor guy is going to get torn to shreds by the press when he gets back to England, and he hasn't actually done anything really strategically bad that's cost them matches or anything.

We actually watched the match with the TV on mute because the way they kept cutting in and talking to the players was annoying Dad so much.

Yeah, the cutting in and talking thing was.. weird. Apart from anything else, you'd think the Gilchrist and Ponting would have to concentrate on the game rather than talking to the commentary team? Although it could make for some interesting candid comments - could you imagine having to basically conduct a press interview for the entire duration of the game? Something less than politically correct will slip out sooner or later.

This is the first 20/20 game I've seen. I was a bit dubious about the idea, but to my surprise liked the atmosphere, although the fireworks was a bit over the top. Still, as long as this doesn't replace traditional tests or one-dayers, then I'll keep watching it.

I did a little fangirl squee over that as well. I did start to feel a little sorry for the poms by the end of it. It was just so pathetic. Poor English guys - they were good sports.

I know. Honestly, if I'd been the England team, I think after the 5th test I would have invented some sort of team-wide attack of the flu, and gone home. But they stayed, and they played as well as they could, and Kudos to them for that.

Hey, your icon - is that Vala or Aeryn? Just curious.
