Apparently 6 day weeks with 12 hour days makes lyore a tired little engineer. At least when I try and keep up some pretense of a social life at the same time. And it looks like I'm working this Sunday too...



Got the 'back-up' job I applied for a while ago. Now I have to find a polite way of turning them down, since I've decided to stay with the 'project of insane workload'. And I have to stop myself from thinking about the fact that I am turning down a permanent promotion in favour of a temporary one... I still think it's the right move career-wise, but it does mean I have the possibility of being substantially worse off in 6 months than I would be if I took the other job.

OTOH, looks like I have support from this project to do my Masters, which is excellent news. Still need to go through the whole application process for them to fund it, but hopefully all will go well. I would be starting next year, and the project should have more than tripled its numbers of engineers, so the workload should be less insane.

Right. So content created to 'plan encourage or advocate' murder, war crimes, or terrorism is AOK then? Glad that's clear.

Sometimes I think LJ need to have a serious think before they post policy decisions, because it's bloody obvious to anyone with half a brain this is going to come back and bite them.

I'm alternating between being worried I'm biting off more than I can chew - it'll be part time, of course, but I'll still be working full time - and squeeing over the greatness of the course. It's exactly what I'm interested in, and lines up really well with work priorities atm.

And no, I hadn't seen that, but have now entered. Thanks for the heads up! Although I'm not sure what I would say to her... probably 'There better be a damn good reason you killed Sirius!' :P

If it makes you feel any better all my lecturers keep saying how much less awful and stressful than honours masters is.

Well, I survived honours all right, so I guess that's good :) The only reason I'm even considering it is because it's a Master's by coursework - no way I would ever try and write another thesis while working full time.

ooh congrats about the masters - and well done for making that 'difficult' job decision - it's hard but sometimes you just have to go with your gut instincts on things don't you. i kind of did a similar thing with the new job i'm taking - it's a promotion, and the job's lovely, but it's back to a temporary contract (3 yrs) rather than permanent. But my heart was screaming move! so I did :-) Hmm, the 'project of insane workload'...I think I may have worked on that one at some point :-D

Yes, I'm pretty confident I did the right thing, but it's hard sometimes, even when your brain and heart agree!
