Buffy! (This looks like fun. I may try it.)

01. The first character I fell in love with: Willow, then Xander. While I always liked Buffy, it wasn't until the library scenes in Prophecy Girl (where she overhears Giles and Angel talking) that I completely fell for her.
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Faith.
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Dawn, perhaps? I'm not sure how much everyone else loved her, but she drove me nuts. Mostly because she reminded me of my little sisters - except for the whole magical key thing, I guess.
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: I loved Cordelia, back when she was the snarky Queen C :)
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Spike. He was brilliant when evil, interesting when reluctantly working with the Scoobies, and increasingly boring after that. But again, this is kinda influenced by fans - while I loved the incredible fucked-up-ness of Buffy and Spike in Season 6, the people promoting it as 'True, Romantic Love' kinda missed the point, IMO. And the endless 'Spike is better than Angel is better than Spike' thing got old REALLY fast.
06. The character I would shag anytime: Spike, Angelus, Giles-as-Ripper.
07. The character I'd want to be like: Giles :)
08. The character I'd slap: Season 6/7 Buffy, Season 7 Spike.
09. A pairing that I love: I still have a nostalgic love for Buffy/Angel. And Willow/Oz was the cutest thing EVA.
10. A pairing that I despise: Cutesy, fluffy Buffy/Spike. And Buffy/Giles kinda creeps me out, I guess.

Agh. This is frustrating - there are so many characters and pairings to chose from! Damn shows with large casts!

Why I should never be allowed to talk Buffy...

1) Prophecy Girl is one of my all time favorite episodes and seems to get lost on all the best lists in favor of showier eps like "Hush" or "The Body," so I love that you mentioned it. Those scenes in the library are just fantastic and highlight some of my issues with SMG's later acting, because she *can* be amazing.

2) I liked Faith from the beginning.

3) Do people really like Dawn? I thought she was generally reviled. I never hated her, but more or less found her unnecessary and a distraction from characters I did like (like Xander). The whole klepto thing was ridiculous and annoying though.

4) It shocks me that people might not like snarky Cordy! She was so awesome.

5) I tried to stay away from all fan reaction to Spike, because the "Spike/Buffy= true love" shippers scared me. Spike on Angel was pretty great though.

9) Nostalgic love is exactly right.

10) Eew for Buffy/Giles! He's like her father.

I think that scene in 'Prophecy Girl' is the reason I'll still defend Buffy to anyone, regardless of how annoying I find her later characterisation (and acting).

I don't know what the general consensus was on Dawn at the time, but the mod of the only Buffy list I was on loved her :)
