Labour has the majority in the lower house, with a massive swing. Howard is gone. And it's looking likely he's going to lose his seat - only the second time in Australian history the PM hasn't won in his electorate.

Hmm. Harry Potter as PM...

And as an added benefit for my flist, this should be the last time I spam you with election-related posts. At least for the next few years *g*

I'm... cautiously optimistic. We'll see.

BTW, what do you think of Rudd's education policy? A school-teacher friend of mine had serious reservations, but I don't really know the details.

I'm not sure he's given us enough detail to make any real decision ... I think he's got some good ideas, but they could be really tricky to implement. His computer policy would be a hassle, I think, but might be worth it. I recall he proposed a plan to help start kids off learning a little sooner, which I think is a good thing. That's all I can remember, but really what I like about Rudd's stance on education is that he genuinely seems to care about education, which is not a vibe I ever got from the Coalition.
