I volunteered to be tagged by
deaka for one of those interest memes, so here goes. (Why yes, I am procrastinating, how could you tell?)
1. Bobby Hobbes
Ah, I-Man. I love this series, mostly for the evolution of the buddy-cop feeling between the two leads (Darien Fawkes and Bobby Hobbes). And Bobby is such an interesting character, experienced and damaged, and willing to do anything for his partner.
2. Daniel Jackson
The reason I started watching Stargate. Well, not the only reason, but certainly a big part! Despite my fondness for all the other characters, Daniel was and remains my favourite - perhaps because he's intellectual enough for me to identify with, but dissimilar enough for me to not be annoyed/overindentify with his decisions? Whereas Sam can be a little bit close to bone at times, especially in the interpersonal relationships front.
3. Engineering
Less of an interest, and more of a career. I've listed it in my profile since I always like finding other technically oriented fans on LJ - sometime it feels a little like I am drowning in all the arts-and-english types, especially in the more academically or meta-oriented communities. (For those interested, my degrees are in Engineering and Science (majoring in Physics), and I'm doing my Master in Engineering part-time now - hence the procrastination!)
4. Iolaus
From Hercules, the Legendary Journeys. I've always liked Iolaus, and rewatching the series as an adult (what! it's brilliant brain-dead-nostalgic goodness!) I'm always fascinated with the way he deals with continually playing second fiddle to Herc - however much it annoys him on occasion, he will alway come through for his friend.
5. Lois & Clark
And speaking of brain-dead nostalgic goodness, this series is the epitome. It's also the show that sold me on the Clark Kent and Lois Lane relationship, and the reason I am firmly convinced that it is Superman that is a mask for Clark Kent, and not the other way around. It's also one of the few fandoms I read really shippy OTP fanfic for.
6. Publishing
While I'm not involved in the industry in any way, shape or form (despite my much-cherised dream of one day actually writing something worth publishing), I find the industry and the process fascinating. It's so subjective, and so relentlessly commercial and occasionally almost dysfunctional.
7. Superman
I occasionally cringe at the all-consuming "goodness" of Superman, and he can't compare to Batman in the angst stakes, or Woverine in the arsekicking stakes, but I still have a massive soft-spot for Clark Kent - especially when said he comes up against the 'what is right versus what is easy' and actually struggles with it.
Anyone who wants to play, let me know.

Date: 2008-08-24 10:22 am (UTC)I wondered if you meant the show with Lois & Clark. I used to watch it religiously, but I haven't seen it in a very long time. I'm a bit afraid that if I were to watch if again, it wouldn't be as good as I remember. The nostalgia alone would probably make it worthwhile, though. :D
And Daniel kind of makes SG-1 in a lot of ways. That season he left just didn't feel the same... although I didn't mind Jonas Quinn. He was no Daniel, the poor guy.
