One of my New Years Resolutions is to write more fic. Let's start as we mean to go on, shall we?
Title: Simulation
Author:
lyore
Rating: G
Summary: Skywalkers' have a great many talents, but flying in simulators isn't one of them. Two drabbles, one story.
Author's notes: Inspired by the discussion on this post.
Characters:Drabble One - Anakin. Drabble Two - Luke, Wedge.
Father
“Sithspit!” Anakin jabbed viciously at the simulator’s reset. Obi-Wan would chide him for his display of temper, but Anakin felt no remorse. It’s not fair. Even Obi-Wan can fly sims better than me!
The thought of his master made Anakin glance guiltily at the chrono. He and Obi-Wan were scheduled to greet a trade delegation, but in a rare display of sympathy for Anakin’s loathing of everything political, Obi-wan had declared his apprentice’s presence unnecessary.
Frustrating as pseudo-flying was, it was still infinitely better than politics. Anakin’s hands tightened on the controls. This time, I will do better.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Son
Wedge struggled not to laugh as a deflated Luke dragged himself out of the simulator.
“I just don’t understand” Luke groaned. “It’s so easy in the air, but in the sim it’s all just random dials and dots on a screen.”
“So you’re no good in a sim – who cares? You can fly rings around the rest of us, and everyone in the squadron - and Command - knows that.”
Luke brightened slightly and Wedge clapped his friend on the shoulder. “And besides, you did beat some of the trainees!”
Luke threw his flight gloves at Wedge’s head.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy New Year, everyone!
